Opening East Side Story

Hello, my name is Chuck Beard.  I am the crazy one who decided to open a bookstore, East Side Story, ‘offline’ like people did in the 20’s … the 1920’s.  Yep, that’s me alright.  I’m sure you know this much since you are visiting this page and reading these words after someone told you about this website, or your mother told you to go read a good book, or you randomly saw this penned on a bathroom stall in the airport right next to the phrase that left me speechless (said comment written in cursive read “Toy Story 2 … not so bad!”) – true story. Any way you look at it, I’m happy that you are here and now AND reading!  Reading is good for the soul.  Writing might even be better.  Either way, reading and writing is good … mmmkay!

There will plenty more to say and write as I update this website and this page in particular as I ramble through this journey and chapter of my life as a book wrangler, a page slinger if you will … and I most certainly am.  There will be a lot of random comments and thoughts that go down here so you probably won’t want to miss out even for a second.  Like, for instance, I look forward to seeing the first Nashville couple that meets at my bookstore, then gets married and starts a family; then later down the line, when they are laying on their deathbeds together like in The Notebook (tie-in with book here as usual) in front of their now big family, they say how grateful they were that a crazy guy like me decided to open a bookstore in this exact place and day and time.  Boy, what a thought!  I’m sure I won’t be around or alive for said comment, but it obviously sounds better than a kid finding out that their grandparents met at a bar … right?  So stay tuned and feel free to share this page and thoughts about this adventure with everyone you know and people you don’t even know that well.  You know, like a random Facebook friend if anything else.

Oh well, I know November is coming around the bend soon enough, but I will spare you the novel right out of the gate.  I hope, at the very least, that what I’ve written, said, or have done here makes you smile and encourages you to follow through with your own ideas and dreams.  After all, they are YOUR ideas and dreams.  Now get off of here and pick up that book you just bought at East Side Story and get to reading’!

Thanks!

As you were, busy but happy,

chUck

Hi ChUck,

My husband, the artist EricLHansen.com moved to 5th and Main recently. I’m going to be dropping by your store. It’s so nice to know there are “crazy” people left in our world.

Chuck,
I want to get your ideas about a book I have been trying to figure out what to do with for a long time.
I know that you know more about such than anybody I would trust. My story is different to say the least.
Can I meet with you and show you the situation? How about Thursday afternoon the 10th of Jan?
